Sandy’s Delivery Service : THE best way to support Le Club Sandwitch

Producing informative, funny-fun-fun, and original nutrition related content, while remaining free, ad-free, and free from commercial partnerships, takes a lot of time and energy... and doesn't bring in much money!

Sandy’s Delivery Service is therefore a way to financially support my work and allow me to bring to life my many upcoming projects (e.g., podcast, videos, mini comics, board games, and even more silly stories!)*.

Si tu t’abonnes, tu m’aides à nourrir Le Club Sandwitch de nouveaux contenus et en bonus tu reçois 1 x par mois :

If you subscribe, you help me to keep Le Club Sandwitch alive and as a bonus you receive 1 x per month:

⭐ A postcard illustrated by me (illustration guaranteed always AI-free)

⭐ A super simple digital recipe using basic ingredients and kitchen equipment (no need for the latest trendy gadget you'll only use once in your life or some fancy flour only found in a shop at the top of Machu Picchu), all accessible via a QR code

⭐ The digital version of the illustration of the month to print and color (accessible via the same QR code as the recipe!)

⭐ An anecdote, a thought, and/or a short informative text on the back of the postcard to motivate you on your quest to develop better cooking skills and show you that you're not alone having a hard time around the kitchen (apparently I like adding parentheses)

*As I’m french-speaker, all my content other than Sandy’s delivery service is actually is french. However, supporting my work will help me put some time in developping more bilingual content (translation takes time!).

Besides to encouraging my work, it helps you if:

🍄 You want to cook, but you don't know where to start (the abundance of recipes online may be overwhelming!)

🍄 You'd like a little nudge each month to remind you to try at least one new recipe

🍄 You especially hope your fridge will stop being so ugly

Sandy’s Delivery Service solves ALL these problems by helping you improve your cooking skills, build a bank of easy and delicious recipes, motivate you in a kind (and humorous) way, and incidentally allow you to decorate your fridge with a beautiful postcard (let's be honest, your fridge IS ugly).

How does it work ?

🍄 You subscribe via the Stampfans platform, you pay via Stripe, then each month you receive a postcard illustrated by me with a short text I wrote on the back and a QR code that gives you access to a digital easy-to-cook recipe that I developed.

🍄 You scan the QR code with your phone and you go directly to the link for the recipe in digital format (a printable version will also be available on the site).

🍄 You cook the recipe, you enjoy it, and you improve your cooking skills!

And I, for my part, pledge to continue working very, very hard to create fun, educational and creative content free from advertising and commercial partnerships.

How much does it cost ?

$7 USD (approximately $9.80 Canadian) per month

FAQs

Why would I pay for a subscription to receive ONE SINGLE recipe when I can have a million recipes for free with a single click?

I agree with you: I'm not (and won't be) the next Ricardo. Lots and lots of people are doing an incredible job developing free recipes or offering subscriptions with tons of cool features. But that's not what I'm offering you.

But don’t worry : what I’m offering you is kind of cool too !

When you're starting out to cook, sometimes too much is as bad as too little. And with so many recipes out there, it can be overwhelming to choose where to begin.

If you don't cook much, it's great to have a repertoire of recipes you know well, that you know you love, that aren't complicated, and that won't give you any unpleasant surprises. That's what I'm offering you: only one recipe to try and try again throughout the month. And when you feel ready, the following month you'll receive another one. And that's how you gain the confidence to develop your cooking skills, little by little.

Subscribing to Sandy’s Delivery Service is like making a commitment to yourself: this month, I'm trying a new recipe. Just one. Not a thousand. One.

Hey, and by the way, you're not JUST paying for one recipe a month. You're also paying for an illustration I created, printed on a postcard and sent to you in the mail, plus a note I wrote to encourage you on your quest. And you're encouraging me in pursuiying my work!

What is StampFans ?

This is the company that manages the subscription service: this is the company that receives your payment, prints the postcard, and sends it to you. It's an American company (I couldn't find a Canadian equivalent!), but it's a small company founded by Nick Freiling.

You can find the subscription terms here.

You can find out more about the company here.

If you have any questions about this, you can write to me directly.

Why does it cost that much to subscribe?

StampFans charges $3 USD per subscription to cover its operating costs, printing the cards, and mailing them. Then, I decide on the additional fee I charge. Since I'm just starting out and don't have a huuuuuuuuge fanbase, I need to charge a bit more to make a minimum profit considering the time I spend developing the recipe of the month, the associated costs (I have to buy the ingredients for testing), and the time I spend creating the illustration of the month and writing the accompanying text.

Why are you doing business with an external company and not managing the subscription service yourself?

To be frank, I'd really love to manage all of this myself and save you the fees charged by StampFans! But since I'm just starting my business and it's not generating much revenue, I have to keep expenses to a minimum. Right now, it wasn't realistic to buy a quality printer, ink, card stock, stamps, etc. But as soon as it's possible, I'll look into the possibility of bringing everything under my control!

Can I unsubscribe whenever I want?

Yes, you can unsubscribe whenever you want. I won't even hold it against you at all.

Why don't you charge taxes (and is that even legal!?)?

Yes, it is legal: when a company's total revenue does not exceed $30,000 for a single calendar quarter or over four consecutive calendar quarters, it is not necessary to register for GST/HST.

Nevertheless, it's often encouraged to do this as early as possible when starting a business. However, I've chosen not to do it for now for two reasons:

  1. StampFans, the company that manages subscriptions to Sandy’s Delivery Service, does not allow to charge taxes.

  2. I want to keep my price as low as possible so you pay as little as possible.

Even though I aim to make more than $30,000 a year with my business, as long as my revenue allows me to do so, I will continue not to charge taxes.

Are the recipes and the text on the postcard in English?

Yes ! But be aware that there are two different subscriptions : one in french, the other in english.

If you want to subscribe in English, and receive english content, it's Sandy's Delivery Service.

If you want to subscribe in French, and receive french content, it’s le Courrier du Club.

Are the recipes included in the subscription complicated?

No! I'm committed to developing simple and accessible recipes. No complicated ingredients that you'll just use in one recipe and end up wasting.

The recipes included in the subscription do not require a:

  • food processor

  • mixer foot or mixer

  • hand mixer or stand mixer

  • slow cooker

  • air fryer

  • or other equipment besides what I consider basic kitchen equipment

What do I consider "basic" kitchen equipment? To name just a few, it could be things like a mixing bowl, measuring cups or spoons, muffin tins, a baking sheet, a pot, knives, a baking dish, an oven, a microwave, a spatula, etc. Basically, it's all stuff that if you don't already have in your kitchen, it shouldn't cost you too much to get, and it's the kind of thing you'll use often if you start cooking more.

What kind of recipe can I expect?

You can expect to receive recipes for desserts, snacks, main courses (with or without meat) and appetizers.

I promise to create very basic recipes, which might not wow anyone or revolutionize the culinary world, but which will do the job of nourishing you, comforting you, tasting good, and making you want to cook them again. If you subscribe for several months, you should end up with a pretty good selection of basic recipes.

If you follow me on my social media (for now, all my content is in french), you should get a sneak peek at the recipe of the month (and if it doesn't inspire you or doesn't suit your eating habits, remember that you can unsubscribe at any time!)

You can also check out the gallery to see all the recipes that have been shared in the past within the subscription.

Are the recipes vegetarian?

I can't guarantee 100% that all the recipes will be vegetarian. However, some recipe categories are vegetarian by default (no one ever thought, "Finally, vegetarian desserts!"). For main course recipes, if they contain meat, I will do my best to provide a vegetarian alternative (tested and just as delicious).

Are the recipes included in the subscription exclusive to Sandy’s Delivery Service?

No! However, you do have early access. As long as it's the recipe included in the monthly subscription, I don't publish it on my social media and it remains hidden, accessible only via the QR code on the postcard (e.g., subscribers in November will have early access to the recipe of the month throughout November, but once December arrives, the November recipe becomes available to everyone).

Why did I choose not to make the recipes exclusive?

  1. I feel that it would go against my principles regarding accessibility. I'm aware that not everyone can afford to pay for an extra monthly subscription, and if you're on a tight budget, I'd much rather you spend that money on groceries than on a subscription. So, I prefer to share easy recipes with everyone who follows me, whether or not they subscribe to Sandy’s Delivery Service.

  2. Let's be honest: it's really not easy to make money when you're starting a business as a registered dietitian in communications (and you decide to do NO commercial partnerships and keep your website ad-free). I have to spend a lot of hours creating content that earns me zero dollars, just to maintain visibility and engagement on social media. For now, I have no choice but to have another job to put food on the table, which unfortunately doesn't leave me enough hours to develop more ambitious content for Le Club Sandwich. So, it would be “shooting myself in the foot” (does this expression exist in English !?) to make exclusive content that I spend so many hours on, for just a handful of subscribers. If you like the content I produce and want to see more and more of it (you have no idea how my notebooks are OVERFLOWING with projects just waiting to be launched), subscribing to Sandy’s Delivery Service is mainly a way to encourage me to continue with this project.

Why would I pay for that anyway?

Well, because it's really cool to receive a physical postcard in your mailbox every month.

And also because a subscription to Sandy’s Delivery Service is the best way to encourage me to create more content and possibly allow me to work full-time on Le Club Sandwitch (and create EVEN MORE ambitious content)!

I don't live in the province of Quebec! Can I still subscribe?

Here is the information in this regard, as it can be read on the StampFans website: “StampFans can only ship mail to addresses in the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and Canada. Subscriptions from other regions will not be processed.”

Any other questions ?

Don't hesitate to write to me if you have any other questions!
